  1. There are times that you may wish to perform two similar structure or data comparisons. It would be useful if when right-clicking on the tab of a data comparison window, in the context menu that appears, there was a "clone" option. This would generate a clone of the existing structure/data comparison window containing the exact same options of the original window. Then you would be able to just alter the few options you wish and perform the new comparison in the new window, without destroying the comparison that exists in the original window.

  2. When we go to a new customer site for an install, we typically get connected to the network, open schema/data compare for a deployment and then add a new connection. The problem is when we go back to that site (or remote connect in), it can be tricky to find the connection for the customer.

Can we have something in the connection manager to arrange the connections in alphabetical order so they are easier to find?

  3. Hi,
It would be good to add a "modified date" filter to the defaults. Currently it is very hard to display only recently modified elements.

  4. It would be great if the system would automatically refresh an object when you open it to edit. SSMS does pulls the current version, but this system just opens the cached version. This has cost me hours over the time I've used this product. One example use case:

    • Right click a stored procedure > modify
    • Make changes
    • F5 to run update script
    • Close window
    • Sometime later, repeat and you get the version that was from before you made the first changes.

  6. When using the "Truncate Table" feature on a table which has an active table lock, dbForge completely freezes up and ultimately crashes. The app should "gracefully wait" rather than crash.

Could you please specify what product version you are using?

Please also provide us a screenshot of any possible error and perform the following:
    1. Select ‘Tools → Options…’ from the main menu. The ‘Options’ window opens.
    2. Navigate to the ‘Environment → Output’ branch.
    3. Select the ‘Write queries sent by the program to the SQL Log’ and ‘Log application errors’ options.
    4. Unselect the ‘Delete application log after closing’ option. Click ‘OK’.
    5. Reproduce the issue and send us the *.log file with the latest date from the folder:
    SystemDrive\Users\%UserName%\AppData\Roaming\Devart\dbForge Studio for SQL Server\

  7. Prior to the major code change of SQL Studio, when a new window was opened, it always open to the right of the current window. Now, for that past few versions, a new opened window always opens to the right of the Start Page window.

Please restore the open window behavior to place new windows to the top of the Most Recently Used (MRU) window stack. This would be a quality of life improvement, since right now I open a window, then I have to manually move it to where I want it to be.

  9. When importing data, there needs to be a way to adjust the data type for multiple fields at the same time. I can select multiple fields and choose edit, but after adjusting to varchar(255), the data type only changes for one of the selected fields at a time. I have 134 fields to set the data type to varchar(255). I don't have time to set the data type for each field. Very frustrating and unproductive. I can't use this product until this feature is added.

  10. The Excel file should be copied to a temp file to ignore file locks caused by the file being opened in Excel. The import should allow a refresh at the end of the wizard right before the import begins.

  11. Most spreadsheets I get have unsupported characters in column headers - like slashes, line breaks and spaces. It would be great to have the import wizard allow a regex or other way to clean up the columns in a batch. e.g. "sales rep" could become "SalesRep", or "district / group" could become "DistrictGroup"

  14. When using the Data Compare if I click on the JSON Data Viewer, the differences between the 2 values are not shown, it would be wonderful if the differences between 2 JSON columns could be displayed with highlighting !

  15. In SSMS the number of rows affected by a tsql statement is printed to the Messages tab. In dbForge Studio only the number of rows returned to the application is sent to the Output->General window.
The details in SSMS are extremely useful, especially for UPDATE and DELETE statements or other code that returns no data to the application (e.g. selecting rows into a new table).

  17. Search does not find all stored procedures in a case sensitive database. The default case insensitive search misses some objects. To make it work, you must specify the exact case sensitive search string and make the search case sensitive. The default server collation in my instance was case insensitive.

  19. I want to automatically change the Collation. If you just change the Collation in the database, then the new Collation applies only to new tables. And old tables need to be changed through a script. The views do not change either.
