  1. LinqPad has one useful feature that could be used here in dbForge Studio too. It has a panel which shows folder structure of one specific scripts folder (configurable location). In this folder users can organize scripts into subfolders (projects). And by double-clicking on script in this panel you open the script. This folder can also be synced (via dropbox or other cloud drives) so you have same structure and scripts on multiple machines. This is a similar feature request as project workspaces. Could be easy to develop and would really help us who work on lots of projects and databases…

  2. The Excel-export shouldn't necessarily put explicit formatting on the cells. That it does is annoying as it forces one to explicitly remove it again before the data can be formatted as a table with one of the Excel table format templates, for instance. Another example is that although number fields are actually marked as being number fields, they are still displayed as left aligned, because that's how they are explicitly (and wrongly) formatted.

  3. i would like a pane on the left under the database explorer that gives me one click access to a table/view that i designate as a favorite.
    this way i dont have to click on the connection database/click to expand tables/scroll to table/click table

    i could rightclick table at this point, click make favorite and then from that point on i simply do one click to open in main content area.

    thanks

  4. When you open a file in SSMS you can see your favourites down the left hand side, which I use a great deal. dbForge does not show this, can it?

  5. Show column totals (sum) or average at the bottom of the column. This would be great with a right click of the column header then click then click Group Footer then click Sum or Average

  6. I have several Master-Detail browser sessions that I use on a daily basis. When I reload them in the morning, it is necessary to SHIFT-click on the column headers in the Data view to set the sorting/sub-sorting. Is it possible to save the last known sort conditions for the tables involved in the design?

    There appears to be the beginnings of this feature in the Design panel. A person can highlight a column and press the 'Sort Ascending' or 'Sort Descending' buttons at the top of the tab window. When these are set, a little icon shows up indicating the…

  7. It is fairly common in other tools/database (like Access for instance) for exported money or currency type fields to represent negative numbers by putting brackets around the value. Currently when such values are imported they give a truncation warning and put the value in as positive.

    (10.00) should go in as -10.00 instead of giving a warning and going in as 10.00.

  8. Every now and then I use "Close all Windows", I would like to see an option where you can specify that the Startpage remains open all the time.

  11. When filtering for tables and views I can currently filter by Name, Owner, Schema, or Creation Date, which is really helpful but it would be nice if you could add "Row Count" so I could filter by tables that actually contain data. I work with a database where about half the tables are completely empty so it would be nice to only show tables that contain some data.

  12. It would be great if dbForge remembered what tables were open when a connection is opened. When working on a big project where lots of tables are being worked on every day, I have to spend quite some time re-opening the tables every morning before I can get any work done.

    An alternative would be to have the ability to save the currently open windows for a connection into a 'workspace' file.

  13. I'm an advocate for your products, but there are certain functionalities in special products like SQL Sentry Plan Explorer, or text editors like Sublime Text 3 that are difficult to fully match.

    I would like an option to support "external tools" in your product so If I want to have an external tool open a sql plan directly in it, I would have some way to configure this. Additionally, the ability to open the current text file in another editor and reload changes as I switch between the two would be helpful.

    Ensuring some support for external tool access to…

  15. In SQL it is possible, when adding a column with a default value to a table with existing data, to set the value of the column in the existing rows to the default value:

    ALTER TABLE {TABLENAME}
    ADD {COLUMNNAME} {TYPE} {NULL|NOT NULL}
    CONSTRAINT {CONSTRAINTNAME} DEFAULT {DEFAULTVALUE}
    [WITH VALUES]

    I would like to select this option when adding a column to the table in the designer, and also be able to include the option when scripting the changes to the table - when a schema comparison is done, have the WITH VALUES option included in the script.

  17. Ability to create a Folder View that contains selected objects for ease of management. For example, if I'm working on an inventory process, I'd like to have all associated procs, tables, view, synonyms etc all be grouped under one folder for ease of access.. You would essentially create a filter for the "Folder View" or you can right click on each object and add it to that view. This new folder will show up in the object navigator.

    This is a feature that was available on a product called PL/SQL Developer which I found to be extremely handy when I…

  18. In the "Data Viewer and Editor" when using the Hexadecimal view it would be nice if the selection/cursor was highlighted or marked on both sides in some way. That way a user could select some hex values or some text and see visually what it is in the other format.

    Could you please clarify this?

    Please also let us know whether you are able to perform this with, for example, SSMS?
