  1. The search feature in the data view is very slow with large data sets both locally and remotely. In my case I use Azure SQL. Once the data has been retrieved I would like to be able to search the data in the gridview without an additional query to the remote server. You could implement this as a toggle button in the search dialog.

    Thanks,
    Karl

  2. It is typical to write or extend a sql stmt on the top of a query window and to see the result in the bottom.
dbForge has not that standard behaviour for this window. My Suggestion is to configure or save the last the window layout as it will be needed.
I know there are two buttons in the bottom to click on to change this layout but when you work the whole day with this tool and you have click 200 times a day these both buttons it's getting bothersome and not a good user experience.

  4. When analyzing data I often filter the result grid from a query to see how many records there based on certain conditions. The problem is that it doesn't show the number of records after the filter has happened. I then usually export to Excel and then count it that way which is not that productive.

  5. It would be very helpful to rename tabs, or at least provide a customisable format beyond the default. It's very hard to remember which SQLx.sql tab you need to switch to when you've got several open at once.

This feature is available in dbForge SQL Complete and can be setups as follows:
    1. Select ‘SQL Complete → Options…’ from the main menu. The ‘Options’ window opens.
    2. Navigate to the ‘SSMS Caption’ section.

  6. Virtual relations for views are essential for documenting database logic purpose. Those relations dont have to be convertible of course.

  7. I am always using the Quick Navigation option in the search results to locate the found object in Object Explorer. Love it.

It would be even better to also have the option to "Script Object as CREATE/ALTER (Ctrl+F12)" , because that is what I actually need to do 95% of the time. Going via Object Explorer just makes it a little slower.

  9. When editing SQL text, would it be possible to change the default action of cut (CTRL-X), copy (CTRL-C) and paste (CTRL-V) to operate on the current line if no selection is visible? Every programming editor I've used do this as the default. An example use case: Cursor is in the middle of my current line and I want to delete the line. Current actions required are to press the HOME key (most times twice because the line is indented), hold down the SHIFT key and press the DOWN ARROW key, then press DELETE, or start typing with the new text.…

  10. Add ability to also search in SQL Server Agent Jobs for references to stored procedures, tables etc. to dbForge Search.

Redgate SQL Search has this functionality.

  11. Impossible without "CHANGING CONNECTION" to setup a database diagram to USE a specific database. Unfortunately there is no way to "edit" the database name even in the drop down list, or to change the owner of the database diagram. This is a serious impediment to productivity.

  12. In SSMS / Visual Studio you can select a box section / columns from multiple lines for editing using the <Alt> key (EG: Select area on a single line, press <Alt> and down / up arrow and you'll have those same columns then selected in other rows too).

This allows for quickly replacing / editing data that recurs across multiple consecutive lines - It's proved a HUGE time-saver.

I believe this is what was asked for here:
    https://devart.uservoice.com/forums/177009-dbforge-studio-for-sql-server/suggestions/14157501-column-mode

and it would be great to have that added into Studio.

  13. In "Data Comparison tool", when two tables are compared, the user may wish to create a script to update only one of the i.e. 5 fields that have changes. It would be nice if in the header of the results grid, a checkbox existed next to each field name (only in tab "Different Records") so that the resulting UPDATE statements of the selected lines would contain only the "checked" fields.

  14. Allow the grouping and saving of scripts into a project or solution. This would allow the grouping of related scripts into a single file set that can then be opened more easily. This would also allow a developer to more easily keep scripts related to a specific job synchronized and loaded.

For example, loading the Paycheck project will load all of the scripts related to the Paychecks task. Then, by loading the Employee project will switch out the scripts with the ones for the Employee task.

  15. Hi,

I would like to suggest a new feature which will allow changing default export "options" for all exports to Excel/HTML format? I'm thinking about fonts, colors, alternating row colors etc.

I don't like default coloring so I would like to change it for all exports I do from dbForge Studio. Now I have to change them every time, and it's tricky because I have to manually copy complex colors to dialog, select fonts.

I was thinking that "Save template" would help me with this, but this saves whole data source too so I always get same data exported when…

  16. Add the ability to define the query executed on a Right-Click / Retrieve Data.

I use this feature frequently and always go in and edit the query to order by id desc. It would be nice to be able to override the standard select *.

  19. Add option to hide schema as part of the table name in database diagrams. Since the new version 5.4 table name in database diagram show "SchemaName.TableName". Sometimes long table name get cropped so we have to extend the table's box to see the table name. Diagram need to be larger now... not good...
I'll go back to an older version for the time being.

  20. On a multiple execution query, allow to customize the name of the results tabs, by default only shows the table name, useless if the tables are the same.
