  1. It would be nice to have ability to develop automation scripts or plugins to allow extensibility of dbForge Studio for MySQL.

    For example, I have repeating task:
    1. Create backup of database A
    2. Create backup of data in table b in database B
    3. Overwrite database B with backup of database A
    4. truncate table b in database B
    5. Write data from backup of data in table b to database B
    6. Performe some data modifications in database B
    (all of this to produce developers copy of database from production database)

    I think that performing this feature will…

  2. I have like a hundred database connections. I need to export the list, along with passwords, into an XML file and be able to import them at another installation, another computer.

    You can turn off a data backup for the tables that use the CONNECT, SPIDER, FEDERATED, JDBC, CSV, etc engines. The option ‘Include data from remote tables’.

  4. It only makes sense to combine these two options when SQL SECURITY is set to DEFINER. In the other case (INVOKER) it will cause a problem if the DEFINER is specified when restoring the database to a different environment - user will not exist or will not have the right privileges. "Exclude DEFINER" and "Exclude SQL SECURITY" should be two separate options when backing up a database.

  5. In order to compare user lists, particularly for environment migration (DEV->QA->PROD), it would be helpful to allow multiple tabs of the Security Manager so that users lists can be quickly compared.

  6. We have servers with many databases (>100). Right now I have to create a project for each of them, and run the data generation individually.

    It would be great if there was a way to create a project in dbForge Data Generator for MySQL that covers multiple databases instead of one.

  7. not everybody knows howto work with the registry, so please make it possible to export the connection list and all its options to a file - very important for making backups... it would be the best to save the connection liste parallel into a file, each time something changes, that would be the best for automated backup script...

  8. When right-clicking a selection in Data Editor and selecting the 'Set Value To' popup menu section, in addition to the existing 4 options, there should be the ability to specify custom value.

  9. I regularly run large files against a database or restore multiple databases at one time into separate environments (dev, stage, etc). When the Restore Completed Successfully message appears, there is no way to determine which script or database has been completed. I would suggest amending the message to something like "Restore to database xxxx completed" or "Execution of script xxxx in database yyyy completed successfully"

  11. Add a setting to give a custom alias or nickname to the query result tab that appears when executing multiple queries within the same SQL script.

    For example running 'F5' on the following queries:

    SELECT * from addresses a;
    SELECT * from buildings b;

    Will return two query result tabs named like so:

    TABS: [addresses];[buildings]

    (It seems dbForge names each resulting tab based on the primary name of the first table within each of the select statements)

  13. Right-click on Database "Foo" in object tree. Select--> Backup and Restore --> Restore Database... Dialog shows "Bar" in the Database dropdown list. The Filename text box does not default to the path used for the Backup operation.

  15. When you create a query window and run multiple queries, you get multiple tabs showing the data.

    If you then Ctrl-F8 to Execute Selection (either on new queries or existing) , you lose previous data tabs and they are replaced with the new one, by default it seems at least.

    Is it possible to stop previously run data tabs closing, either globally or by pinning individual tabs to stop them closing when you run new queries within that tab? Its extremely frustrating when trying to access multiple data sets, you have to create new query tabs and end up in…

  16. With a right click, I can set the date and time to now, it would be nice to also have the possibility to set the value to "UTC now". This is important when the database is used across multiple time zones.

  17. If you have a table with many contrans it gets a little confusing in a big diagram. So maybe you can add a duplicate of this table, mark it as duplicate, and route som constrains to the first copy (reference, however you call it) and some to the other. so you can reduce crossing constrain lines.

  18. Allows to view data from 2 or more tables connected with one-to-many relationship (physical or logical).
    We plan to implement separate document with two views: Diagram and Data.
    Diagram view allows to build master-detail relationships visually (akin to Query Builder).
    Data view shows multiple result data sets.

  20. When making multiple modifications to a table, the generated SQL script contains multiple ALTER statements. For example, If I were to add 3 new columns to a table, the resulting script would be something like...

    ALTER TABLE table ADD COLUMN newcolumn1 INT;
    ALTER TABLE table ADD COLUMN newcolumn2 INT;
    ALTER TABLE table ADD COLUMN newcolumn3 INT;

    ... when these could actually be combined into a single ALTER statement like...

    ALTER TABLE table
    ADD COLUMN newcolumn1 INT,
    ADD COLUMN newcolumn2 INT,
    ADD COLUMN newcolumn3 INT;

    The 3 separate ALTER statements essentially take 3 times longer to run than the single combined…
