  1. When comparing a file against its base in version control, it makes sense for the base pane to be read-only. This way it makes it obvious which file is editable. Same with merging - the mine and theirs should be read-only and only the result file should be editable.

  3. Allow to open a new tab on the right side, instead of the left side.
    Currently, when you compare two directories and want to compare a specific file from them, the new tab will be opened on the left. As far as I know, there is no option to change this behavior. It would be nice if you would let user to chose between left and right side. It could be just a global option.
