  1. It is typical to write or extend a sql stmt on the top of a query window and to see the result in the bottom.
dbForge has not that standard behaviour for this window. My Suggestion is to configure or save the last the window layout as it will be needed.
I know there are two buttons in the bottom to click on to change this layout but when you work the whole day with this tool and you have click 200 times a day these both buttons it's getting bothersome and not a good user experience.

  2. There should be an option to set tab color rules based on the database name, not only server/connection.

  3. There should be possible to rename a tab. This should override the SSMS Caption template. It should not override the filename if it is a file that is saved to disk.

Could you please describe it in more detail? A video or screenshots would be also of help.

  5. When the database explorer has very connections (more than 70), is terrible find a connection name, with an order or 'textbox search' would be great.

    Please to consider!

  6. When analyzing data I often filter the result grid from a query to see how many records there based on certain conditions. The problem is that it doesn't show the number of records after the filter has happened. I then usually export to Excel and then count it that way which is not that productive.

  7. When I choose the "Is any of" in the filter editor, I can easily add values via the + icon. However, I can't delete a value from the clause after it's added. Deleting the value still leaves the actual item, but with ''. I have to delete the entire filter with the X icon and completely re-do it. There should be an X icon to delete/remove the values from the Is Any Of statement or a right click delete. How to delete just one value? This would be a great enhancement!

  8. When I filter the results grid in DBForge Studio for SQL Server, it's great to quickly get the results i need! However, there are times I'd like to see the SQL of the filter (i.e. what it is putting in the WHERE clause) so I can use it in my own SQL query. Currently I do not see a way to view or export that. This would be a nice feature to have!

  9. I'm getting ready to migration from MS SQL 2012 to MS SQL 2016 and really missing the ability to generate documentation for SQL Server Agent and SSIS packages (both on a server and file system) with the SQL Documenter feature.

There are situations when jobs and packages referring to obsolete servers are still existing on actual servers.

  10. Add a "By name" button next to DDL. This would be similar to DDL, but would exclude definitions (e.g., it would include SP name but not SP definition). This would allow use of dbForge to quickly look for for specific SPs or tables as a more convenient/faster alternative to SSMS object explorer. It is possible to set the object types to only include procedures, but doing so still includes contents, which makes for a search that is both slower and noisier.

  11. It is currently possible to setup an external program to compare text when doing a schema comparison.

It wold be nice if this option would extend to comparing source control to the database.

  13. Would it be possible to see the table name in the query result. When you have big queries it is hard to see which table the data is in. E.g.

    SELECT
    c., jp., cp.*
    FROM x, y, z

This query results in 100 columns. It would be useful in the result to see:

    c.Column1, c.Column2, jp.Column1, jp.column2, jp.Column3

  15. Virtual relations for views are essential for documenting database logic purpose. Those relations dont have to be convertible of course.

  16. I am always using the Quick Navigation option in the search results to locate the found object in Object Explorer. Love it.

It would be even better to also have the option to "Script Object as CREATE/ALTER (Ctrl+F12)" , because that is what I actually need to do 95% of the time. Going via Object Explorer just makes it a little slower.

  18. It would be very helpful to rename tabs, or at least provide a customisable format beyond the default. It's very hard to remember which SQLx.sql tab you need to switch to when you've got several open at once.

This feature is available in dbForge SQL Complete and can be setups as follows:
    1. Select ‘SQL Complete → Options…’ from the main menu. The ‘Options’ window opens.
    2. Navigate to the ‘SSMS Caption’ section.

  19. Can documenter include the db diagram? or is it only text?
