Table alias gets converted to uppercase

When using a table alias of "u", all new instances becoming capitalized incorrectly.

    I'm still seeing this happen in 6.1.59, although it seems even worse that the original report. When I define a single letter alias, it is capitalizing it everywhere, including when I first try to define it. Any updates on this? Thanks!
