  2. It is very common to make typos or spell words incorrectly as you code or write comments. It would be nice to introduce a spelling check of the comments and optionally in variables, column names, table names, procs, functions similarly how it is done in PyCharm.

That is especially useful when you create new tables. If you misspell a column name it is such a pain to fix it later.

  3. By selecting a portion of the code in a stored procedure, giving the ability to create a new stored procedure or function from that code.

All variables present in the selected code are automatically passed as parameters. The selected code is then replace by a call to the function/procedure

This will help to divide the code in sub function and been auto documented.

  4. Like Microsoft's IntellySense does, when you open or write a script, case errors in variable names, table names, and field names are underlined in red (higlight) as a warning and can be corrected if desired.
This funcionality is like a spell checker.
You currently open a script and SQLComplete is not able to tell you what case errors there are.
This is quite important in environments where this requirement is required to be met.

  5. I often use SQL to generate SQL commands based on information from sys tables. This enables me to keep things in sync.
Currently I need to Ctrl-C my selection, open a new tab, Ctrl-V in it, and then hit F5.
A context menu item, that does all this (except F5) would be a nice addition.

  6. The execution history is a great feature. It can be made more using if SQL Complete was able to persist column changes (moves or exclusions). Currently, the end user is able to move the columns, for example, move the Server column to the left or right. The end user can also remove unwanted columns. However if you close SSMS and reopen, the columns are back to their original positions. This is not very user friendly as the purpose of a user changing the column layout is to have it displayed the way they want.

  7. I previously used SSMSBoost. There was a feature, Query Post-Execution Handlers, that included Results per Email as an option. This feature leveraged PowerShell as the engine, perhaps because it was a Windows installation, and a "script generator" dialog box that converted selected options and variables into a PowerShell script and email message. I would have added a screen capture of this interface, but this post won't accept attachments. The feature also accepted a threshold so it would only apply to queries that exceed a specified number of seconds. It was nice to be able to set this up for long…

  9. Hi, all. I'm really enjoying using SQL Complete. One feature that's been missing from SSMS is a dark theme. There is a way to hack a "dark theme" -- by changing a setting in a configuration file, but it's incomplete; ‘Object Explorer’ and ‘Output Window’ keep their blindingly white backgrounds. Please consider adding this feature to SQL Complete. Thanks

  10. Enhanced Documents Sessions

The main issue I have with SQL Management studio is managing all the tabs and code. One great feature would be the ability to automatically group all sessions by the active database. A modern approach would be to have "grouping" tabs, where you can place code, or a tree approach with subtrees.

The single biggest issue I have is editing stored procedures/functions. If you multiple tabs with the same proc and edit one, then open the other tab and edit by mistake, it is a disaster. Being able to label a session with the actual stored proc…

  11. Please add the ability to color brackets. Just like it happens in Excel, for example, when you write a function. The opening and closing brackets are marked in one color.

  12. I really love the refactoring features, but came across 2 things that might be addressed.

    1. when renaming procedure variable and the same variable name is used in other SP that is called using explicit variable assignment, e.g.
      EXEC dbo.otherSp @variable = @variable,
the other SP variable gets renamed as well
      (e.g. rename
      @variable to @newName creates
      EXEC dbo.otherSp @newName = @newName
      instead of
      EXEC dbo.otherSp @variable = @newName)
when variable is part of an EXEC command and parameter contains assignment operator, only the variable following an assignment operator should be renamed

    2. when leaving table alias as it is and changing…

  14. An option to only allow editing a single instance of a Stored Procedure, Function, etc. (and perhaps the name in the tab or top of file). Or at least a warning if this procedure is already open in another tab.

  16. In the Alias settings I can choose to use upper case, which is fine, but when I do, all my conditional aliases are also all upper case, I would prefer to keep the upper/lower casing that I specified in the condition/action cells

  17. When auto-expanding an insert or update statement by pressing the tab key, the column list provides default values for the columns. With DateTime and DateTime2 in particular, it would be helpful to configure if you want to use the UTC datetime or the current timezone. Our company exclusively stores datetimes in UTC, so to have this default this way would be extremely helpful!

CREATE TABLE #tmp (ID INT, CreatedDateUtc DATETIME2, Name NVARCHAR(50))

INSERT INTO #tmp (ID, CreatedDateUtc, Name)
VALUES (0, SYSDATETIME(), N''); -- allow this to populate as SYSUTCDATETIME() or GETUTCDATE(), depending on DATETIME2 vs DATETIME

  19. Add an option to expand SELECT * to allow the expansion of the fields to be ordered in the order they currently are or to have the fields listed in Alphabetical order. I work with some tables that have many, many fields and they aren't in a very logical sequence, so I end up searching for the field I want. If I could expand the SELECT * and have the fields be in alphabetical order that would help a lot.

Of course I can use Find to find the field I want, or create a snippet that lists these table…

  20. Let's assume, a user have about 10 most frequently used templates that do not need to be modified after they have been inserted unlike snippets.
