It would be quite slick if you could type into a search box above the tree to have the database object tree filter based on the typed term.

Like MS SQL Management Studio can do: it lets you specify a filter and limits list of shown objects in the object explorer tree. This comes more handy, than search results in a separate window, because it doesn't need additional screen space for results.
