dbForge Studio for SQL Server

dbForge Studio for SQL Server is an SQL server development tool incorporating query builder, data import/export and compare tools for managing and analyzing data.

To consider your idea as soon as possible, follow the guidelines:

How can we improve the product?

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

  1. Duplicate query

    I would like to see an option on tab context menu. Often I need to duplicate (clone) my query. So another useful option in context menu when clicking on Query Tab would be "Duplicate query" or something like that.

  2. Schema/data comparison user interface

    Hi. I'm currently evaluating studio for sql server. OK, i'm primarily interested in schema and data comparison but evaluating the whole studio product. Here's a couple of things which i think would be useful additions/modifications to the UI of the product(s) (schema and data comparison).

    1. The "recent files" section. I think it would be better if there was a "favorites" section above "recent files" and the user was able to choose whether he wishes to have the "recent files", "favorites" or both sections shown. Also, comparison projects could have an editable title so in the "favorites" section, one could see…

  4. Open schema/data comparison files

    Opening a saved or recent file (schema or data comparison) should not start comparing directly but instead open the "Edit comparison" dialog in the Mapping tab, just in case the user wishes to change the items being compared. When using slow connections between servers, this would be very helpful. If you feel may users would not like such a change, it could be made configurable in the application options (a "Don't start comparison immediately when opening a comparison file" checkbox).

  6. Ability to designate connection as Production and define rules

    I should be able to designate a connection as 'Production' and define rules as to which statements are allowed/disallowed.

    Production will not allow any DELETE statements. UPDATE statements will need confirmation before they execute.

  8. Identical records visibility in data comparison

    In data comparison options, there is an option (Display Options) to show / hide Identical records before starting the actual comparison.

    My wish is to have another option to Display Identical Records only in the lower part of the results screen (where the data are shown) and not in the upper part (where the tables that are different are shown. In the upper part it's somewhat confusing to have the Identicals column while in the lower part is actually very useful.

  9. Support scrolling and moving for Plan diagrams

    Some scripts creates very large Plan diagrams. I can zoom with my mouse and scroll vertical. I can't move / pan the diagram or scroll horizontal. (Version 5.0)

  11. display relation lines aligned to table columns

    For documenting purposes I need database diagrams to show relation lines precisely aligned to their corresponding columns.

    When a foreign key relations is composed of two or more columns, I need two or more lines to be displayed on the diagram, one for each column. I'd prefer to have all lines of that same foreign key constraint being displayed using the same, distinct color, so they will be recognized as belonging to the same foreign key constraint.

  13. Add button to refresh database list

    After restoring a new database this one is never available in the search tool. It takes a reboot off SQL server.
    A button to refresh the database list would be helpful.

  15. Ability to generate documentation for SQL Server Agent and SSIS packages

    I'm getting ready to migration from MS SQL 2012 to MS SQL 2016 and really missing the ability to generate documentation for SQL Server Agent and SSIS packages (both on a server and file system) with the SQL Documenter feature.

    There are situations when jobs and packages referring to obsolete servers are still existing on actual servers.

  18. Command to better see table and its dependencies on Database Diagram

    It would be nice to have a command in the popup menu allowing to see the table along with its dependencies. I.e., to zoom it out in order to fit on the page and make the other tables transparent or something like that.

  20. Drag Rows in Table Editor to re-arrange the order of columns.

    In MS SSMS I can select rows and drag them in the grid to change their position. I would like to do the same with dbForge.
