reorder methods to match
I was trying to merge two files from a library that had evolved separately in both WPF and Silverlight and I had the issue that there were the same or similar methods in both but in different places. It would be very handy to have a tool to rearrange all methods, field declarations, properties etc. to have the same order at one file with the other (you'd select which one is the master in that case). It should try to respect regions of the master and use them in the other file too

Automatically expand C# regions
I make code reviews with Review Assitant and have to compare C# files with Code Compare.
It would be very useful if Code Compare could expand all regions automatically as right now I always have to open one to be able to compare the files.
I've searched in the options but couldn't find such a setting. So please just expand/unfold all C# regions automatically when comparing files.
5 votesIt’s already done. Please uncheck the “Collapse unchanged regions on opening/refresh” option in Code Compare options → Code Compare → File. You can always collapse the unchanged region manually by clicking the “Toggle Unchanged Regions” button at ‘Changes’ menu.

Keep folder comparison tree in sync
Folder comparisons get out of sync when the keyboard is used to expand/collapse the tree structure.
- Do a folder comparison of similar folders which contain sub-directories
- Close or open one of the sub-folders by clicking on the +/- icon with the mouse --> As expected, the folder closes/opens on both sides of the tree view, not just in the side that was clicked.
- Close or open one of the sub-folders by selecting it and pushing the left or right arrow key on the keyboard (or the plus or minus key). --> Only the side which has primary focus is opened/closed…

The Visual Studio TFS Merge result file should not be read only when using Code Compare
When using Code Compare for TFS Merge, you get the 3-Way Merge panes. The center pane is the merge result. This merge result temporary file is read only however. After making alterations to the merge result you are asked to Overwrite this file. This scares me, because it looks like I am doing something wrong.
When using the default TFS Merge compare tooling you are not asked to overwrite the merge result file.1 vote -
Improve scrollbar synchronization
Scrollbar syncing should be improved a lot. It jumps all around the place while scrolling and I quickly get lost in large files. For instance, if a method is way larger in the left file than in the right, all subsequent methods are misaligned, which makes tracking differences a lot harder for me.

Automatic merge + remove lines such as "<<<<<<< .working"
Automatic merge for TFS 2010 requires manually setting up a batch file, which is cumbersome. Also, several people have reported problems with the merge even with the batch file workaround.
See http://forums.devart.com/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=23622 for more information.

Navigate conflicts only (TFS)
It's a function we have in Visual Studio 2010 when a conflict between 2 files is detected and we have to manually merge them. When this function is activated the "next conflict" button goes only on the conflicts that have to be merged manually. The others can be merged automatically.

Right Click files to compare
In Visual Studio 2010 it should be possible to select two files, click click and select "Compare files".

That feedback button is hovering over text I want to read.
The web site designer sucks. You have a good product why curse it with your hovering?

Settings for codecompare shell to open by default
Personally I like CC to open in my current VS shell when I am using it to diff files in my solution (or against previous version in the solution).
Specifically I like it to open in the VS session where I triggered it from, ie by right clicking in the solution explorer.Conversely in all situations where I diff files in explorer or any other file browser I want it to open in a standalone window. Both for file diffs and folder diffs.
Obviously I accept that my desires won't match all (or possibly even most) users' but a few…

Close to system tray
Instead minimizes in task bar use system tray during preventing close. This will save space and more logical because all documents are closed.

Ability to enable/disable binary quick comparison dialog from showing when the same file is detected.
I'd like to be able to disable the binary quick comparison dialog from showing when files are detected as being the same. I'm working with comparing literally a thousand files and those dialogs are really getting in the way when using the command line since I have to click through them all.

Add a real support of Perforce Client
Perforce is a major source control solution, but using Code compare with it is difficult. I had to create a proxy because of the archaic command line set up. The 3way merge also expose tags in the result file that should be interpret internally and removed at the opening.

You should refer to the documentation for proper integration Code Compare with Perforce:

XML Diff
Create an XML Diff option that compares 2 xml files at the structure level, rather than the text level. This would allow for diff xml files where the attributes have been reordered.

"Display borders" for difference blocks
I suggest to disable/enable borders for difference blocks. When looking files with lot of changes here is too lot of drawings. Winmerge does not highlights border of blocks and this looking good.

Option to Update TFS Configuration in Installer
An option to automatically update the TFS configuration during install would be nice. The following .reg entries indicate how to do this:

Save window position on exit
We have two monitors, when we open Code Compare on the right monitor the next time I open it opens on the left one. This is very annoying.
