  1. I love dbForge and it is the only reason, why we still run a virtual Windows7 machine on our MacBooks in the office. Having a version vor Mac OS would be just great!

    Since there are no DevExpress components for Mac OS, it is not possible to implement a Mac OS version of dbForge.

  2. most serious developers use Linux these days... especially with mySQL. You website on the other hand totally does not work with Linux to the extent that I am unable to learn anything about your product. seems pretty shortsighted to me. I do see here that you have a kb article for installing using WINE. But since your website cant even give me the most basic info due to it not working with Linux, I certainly wont be trying to install your product. Good Luck and especially have fun with window 8....

    Officially, dbForge Studio for MySQL does not support Linux family operating systems, so it can be installed only on Windows family operating systems.

    However, you might be interested that one of our users has found a way to adapt some of the features of dbForge Studio for MySQL to Linux family operating systems. Please refer to the following article for details: http://www.devart.com/blogs/dbforge/index.php/dbforge-studio-mysql-on-linux-operating-systems.html

  3. Hi there, Clustrix uses mySQL protocol, so many third party db mangers work. There are some subtle differences, but nothing that others like Heidi, DbVisualiser or dbSchema couldn't handle. I'd like to try dbForge on my Clustrix project but connection says 'unknown variable: maxsortlength'.

    This is by design.

    The overall amount of the records returned by the query doesn’t change despite the initial records set returned by the query is filtered.

  5. As the most common live platform is the LAMP stack, most people will at some point wish to debug procedures on linux. Many of us also use linux as a cheap development box.

    We tested our product under Wine. Results are described on our blog http://www.devart.com/blogs/dbforge/index.php/dbforge-studio-mysql-on-linux-operating-systems.html

    There are several bugs in Wine that make working with GUI nearly impossible.
    Porting to Mono is impossible either (we also investigated this path).

    If you want to move this process further, please try our product yourself under Wine and file bugs to http://bugs.winehq.org/

    And we have to decline this particular idea on UserVoice.

  6. dbForege Fusion has no commandline support for generating change scripts during the build which is critical to automation.

    It is critical for upgrades I'm able to do this on the build server
    - Deploy a versioned release of the database
    - Create a change script via command line
    - Deploy the script for verification
    - Include the change script for every release in our installer This way we can upgrade from any database we released to the latest.
    (I have this working with Visual Studio & SQL Server but we need MySQL)

    DBForge Studio for MySQL would work except it…

  8. At my sql workbench, each sql after execution, it will return Duration/ Fetch. e.g. (7.191 sec/ 0.000 sec), I cannot find it at devart.
    it is a good feature if design a sql, e.g.
    use which one is better.
    select benchmark(100000000, locate('foo','foobar') > 0);
    select benchmark(100000000, 'foobar' like '%foo%');

    You can view this on the ‘General’ tab of the ‘Output’ window that can be invoked by selecting ‘View → Output’ from the main menu.

  9. Your autocomplete for mysql includes a global variable @@lastinsertid -- AFAIK, no such global exists; it's a function call, so it should fill with lastinsertid() instead.

    Hi! And thanks for the nice question! The thing is that we’ve provided a “user” voice forum, but not a “license” voice one. So, we want to hear an opinion of each user that has been using our tool.

  12. When adding a new row that contains date fields the fields are defaulted to today's date/time. However when you tab through those fields they revert to NULL unless so specifically select a date using the picker or re-type it in.

    Please note that once you click the ‘Refresh’ button on the toolbar of Data Editor, the correct data will be displayed instead of the NULL value.

    Please note that dbForge SQL Complete formats the whole CREATE PROCEDURE statement the selected part of text belongs to. Such behavior has advantages as separate statements get indented inside a CREATE PROCEDURE statement. Though, this behavior will be reconsidered and may be changed in future product versions.

    Also, you can vote for the following suggestion on our UserVoice forum: http://devart.uservoice.com/forums/87893-sql-complete/suggestions/3738223-make-format-selection-to-format-what-is-actually-s

    We collect and analyze the information from this forum in order to make a proper roadmap for future product releases.

  14. 2) please fix it! I have more than one schema. I select the first one. Open a SQL file...launch it. Ok. I open a second SQL file...THE SCHEMA CHANGE without show me the change and dbForge run the SQL script on the second schema!!! Damn it!

    When you open an existing SQL document, it’s assigned to the database that is currently selected in Database Explorer. You can redefine it in the ‘Database’ drop-down menu on the ‘SQL’ toolbar.

    You would need to select the ‘Unicode – (UTF8)’ encoding in the ‘Encoding’ dropdown menu of the ‘Open File’ dialog.

  16. The data view goes into edit mode when you click on a date value (and shows the date chooser) even when the table is in read-only mode. Date columns should behave like all other columns in read-only mode; that is, the date chooser should not come up at all.
