    To dataset know the fields it need to retrieve them from database, so I think the better way is to do by conventional way select ... where Id_field_x is null;

    The transaction when needed to multiple sql commands must be controlled by programmer with Your connection.StartTransacion... already implemented ....

    This already exists, the programmer need to see the value to record packet in your queries.
    But depending of operations, is necessary download of all packets... Maybe you need more elaborated DBGrid to pull the records from datasets.
