I suggest you...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

Enter your idea and we'll search to see if someone has already suggested it.

If a similar idea already exists, you can support and comment on it.

If it doesn't exist, you can post your idea so others can support it.

  1. When adding revisions, allow searching by commit hash

A nice improvement to the process of adding revision(s) to a review would include the ability to search by commit hash.

In our agile process, a "story" that is ready for code review generally has the last commit hash (or a list of the commit hashes) documented somewhere on the card/case/whatever-you-call-it. Given this information, it would be really nice to simply copy that hash and be able to search for revision(s) when starting a new review.

You could use the ‘Database Project’ functionality as described below:

    1. Select ‘File → New → Blank Project’ from the main menu.
    2. Drag’n’drop the connection from Database Explorer onto Project Explorer (select ‘View → Project Explorer’ from the main menu).
    3. Drag’n’drop the specified tables from Database Explorer onto Project Explorer.
    4. Save the project by selecting ‘File → Save NewProject As…’ from the main menu.

Now, whenever you open the project, you will have your favourite tables in a convenient place.

Please also see the ‘Managing Database Projects’ node in the product’s Help documentation.

  3. Ability to specify custom value for multiple cells

When right-clicking a selection in Data Editor and selecting the 'Set Value To' popup menu section, in addition to the existing 4 options, there should be the ability to specify custom value.

  4. Display in output window when query started

If it is not possible to display how long current set of queries is being executing (in a status bar next to word "Executing..." - I don't see quite honest why it is not possible), how about to show start time in an output window saying when query was sent to execution. Right now it shows only AFTER query has returned a result which is some what becomes irrelevant.

I come from MS SQL and it is handy to know how long any query is executing without profiling it.

  5. Timezone for Session in Connection String

I want to define the timezone for my current session within the connection parameters (Advanced).

Today I fire the following SQL Script at first to the Server
    set session time_zone = "MET";

For the character set you're already have such a feature!

  6. Implement "Undo Unchanged Files" feature for TFS for any folder in pending changes.

Implement "Undo Unchanged Files" feature for any folder in pending changes.
For TFS this will be brilliant feature because there is no good tool/extension to do so.
Especially it is useful when baseless merge is performed.

  7. Add switch key to mouse click to open table in different views

Add a switch key (SHIFT, CTRL or ALT) to the mouse click behavior to open a table in design, text or data view with a single click.

  8. Add JDBC connection support

Add ability to use JDBC connections (like dbVisualizer) for access to other DB's (I personally need it for as400 / iSeries / System i data). Initial release could just support data viewing, import.

  9. Pop up procedure and function params on Ctrl+Space like variables

Now, when we edit function or procedure, we can insert first letters of any var, then press Ctrl+Space and see list with types, tables and procedure (or function) variables. So, please add function params (or procedure... :)

  10. execute selection

Execute selection should execute all sql code if nothing is selected (the same as it is in Microsoft management studio).

So if we click on a shortcat for "Sql -> Execute selection" and have no code selected dbForge should do "Sql -> Execute"

  11. Comma separated values when copying cell data

When you copy cell data, for example 5 ids, I would like to be able to copy them as comma separated data in order to use in IN statements.

For example, if you have 3 rows of results like the following:
    id name
    1 George
    2 John
    3 Gregory

I wish to copy ids as comma separated values in order to use them in a Select statement like:
    SELECT * FROM temp t where t.id in (1, 2,3)

  14. SQL History: log in plain mode without parameter

I know that in SQL LOG dbforge could store ALL query sent to DB. It would be great if dbforge stored them in plain form with parameter already substituted (not with :p1, :p2 .. and so on)

  15. drag and drop column names into query

    Multi-select column Names (works).
Drag and drop as a COMMA List in the SQL Editor (does not work)

Even better, if the SQL Text area is empty or being dropped after a ; with no open SQL statement, include "Select " + $fields + " from " + $table with it!

  17. Generate cleaner SQL

It would be really nice if dbForgeStudio generated cleaner SQL code. Currently, the code generated by dbForge is very confusing and differs too much from the code generated by hand. There is no option to turn some settings off.

This is a problem if we need to maintain SQL scripts that are manually edited later. Everytime we need to export a script, we need to manually format the code and remove all the unecessary stuff.

    Some of the issues are:

    1) Every identifier is escaped even if it is plain english text. View generation gets really confusing by escaping every…

  18. Conditional breakpoint

Hi, there is a suggestion for improvements :
It could be usefull to have possibility for conditional breakpoint in Stored Procedure debuging. For example, in a procedure, i put a breakpoint, but i want the process to stop only if some variable has a specific value.
And by the way, it could be also usefull to see the value of a use variable. For exemple, if a define a variable v_var, when the mouse cursor is over the variable, i can see an info about this variable, but if i define another like @v_var (with the @ prefix), this doesn't…

  19. Set toolbar fixed

fix the toolbar so that it can not be accidentally moved during normal working.

The fixation can be disabled/enabled in the toolbar configuration.

  20. Warn about the use of @ in Stored proc parameter names

I used @ in a SP parameter name and spent some time trying to figure out why my procedure didn't work.

Turned out you can't? use the @ character in the name.

In the SP builder it might be handy to restrict invalid characters in param names.
